Fb Groups Being Shut Down?

You may have heard... a few BIG Facebook Groups disappeared over the past 24 hours. I want to be super clear about what's happening and why... 1st - THE SKY IS NOT FALLING! It is most likely a glitch and if you look at Down Detector... Facebook has had lots of outages recently. This is a GOOD Sign! Again - there is a good chance this is a glitch. This is not a sign you should leave Facebook. Again and again we are seeing that people who leave Facebook groups see a drastic drop in engagement. The truth of the matter is... Facebook is still where most of our ideal clients are spending time. They aren't randomly "hanging out" on Skool, or in Circle. So - for free lead generating groups... Facebook is still the best bet. 2nd - BACK UP YOUR ISH! Whether you are using Facebook, Youtube, Skool... or a billboard in time square - you need to back your stuff UP! For years... I've backed up every social media post in a spreadsheet. AND... every CONTACT on Facebook. You may think it's a huge headache to back up all my contacts... but it's actually SUPER EASY because I use a magical tool that does it all for me with the click of a button. When they comment on a post or join my group - this tool brings them off Facebook into my Social CRM and then into a spreadsheet AND my email provider. Today at 1pm PT... my friend Jenna, the founder of this tool, will be running a training showing you how to back up your contacts. So - here's what to do: 2nd: Join Jenna at 1pm PT on zoom. You may remember when my personal Facebook account was shut down. It lasted 3 weeks... and it was a gift. A gift to know that this stuff we do on social media isn't really what matters. The HUMANS are what matter. If you've built real relationships... they will stand the test of the social glitches. AND - it's super important that you own your "list" keep track of your data and don't be hyper focused on one specific platform. We like to say... build a party bus. Take that party bus to the platforms but always come back home knowing your friends know where to find you. That can be email, phone number, what ever it is - just give them a way to reach out outside of social... because you never know what might happen. Stay focused on what matters! #stand4joy |
